The forth annual Lapeer Road Country Cruise puts cruisers and spectators driving on an 25-mile stretch of Lapeer Road (M24) through the Villages of Lake Orion and Oxford, winding through the Village of Metamora, and then on to the City of Lapeer on Saturday, June 25, from noon-9 p.m.
Celebrate ‘50s and ‘60s when cruising was a way to celebrate Michigan summer weekends. Rev up your hotrod or muscle car, show off your custom, Chevy, Mopar or Mustang, and spend the day cruising the open highway.
Each community will host events and other activities throughout the weekend. Drive-in style food and ample parking will be available all along the route, courtesy of the event sponsors.
Cruisers will find an outdoor 1950’s Sock Hop and live entertainment noon-6 p.m. at HarmerParkin Metamora and DJ music at Culvers of Lake Orion. Elvis will make an appearance later in the day. There will be plenty of parking for cruisers. Various locations, including Culvers, E.G. Nicks’s in Lapeer, The Whitehorse and Roadside Attractions in Metamora, the 24th Street Sports Tavern and the Oxford Tap in Oxford will feature outdoor dining.
Auto dealers along the strip, including Skalnek Ford and Milosch’s Palace Chrysler Jeep Dodge will be serving BBQ style food in their parking lots.OaklandUniversitywill have their racing team at Cruise Headquarters in front of Royal Autosound at the new location just north ofOxford
